5 ways to calm your dog everyday

LEARN TO CALM YOUR DOG BY THESE BODY GESTURES

Use the dog's body language to your advantage.  Training does not start with giving commands.  You want to set your dog up so that your dog wants to listen and follow you with trust and respect.  You show your dog that you are a super calm person and tell him you will handle the problems. You are the most awesome person in your dog's eyes.

Understand Dog's Body Language Learn to calm yourself so that your dog can copy you.

#1 TURN YOUR HEAD & FEET OPPOSITE OF YOUR DOG.

And close your eyes. Here, your face and feet directions are crucial for your dog. It may seem like you are ignoring your dog. When you turn your face and feet in the opposite direction of your dog, it will bring a calming and relaxing effect on your dog. Your dog will start looking at you with respect, saying how impressive you are.

You have to understand that dogs are awesome animals because they are experts on how to avoid confrontations and conflicts. Dogs don't like direct challenges, and they will try to prevent these kinds of friction among each other using their body language. So looking at them directly or looking towards your dog will often make them anxious and nervous. It is just their natural body language. So you want to use this knowledge to your advantage. You want to use the dog's language when you meet your dog. From now on, from the moment you enter your house, don't look at your dog.

Start staring at the space or someplace, and don't make any eye contact with your dog. Don't even talk to your dog. In other words, act as if you are ignoring him. And when he does something you like, such as sitting down in front of you or coming to you to say hello, give him praise and reward him with yummy tasting treats. You want to be generous, but you don't want to excite the dog too much. This exercise of ignoring your dog will make perfect sense for two reasons. Number one, you are rewarding positive behaviors, coming and paying attention to you. And number two, your dog is in a positive calming mindset.

#2 YAWN

When you are looking away.  Yawn with your mouth open big.  Biggest yawn of your life!!!  You may want to close your eyes to show that you are really calm.

Yawning is a calming signal that calms and relaxes your dog. Whenever you are near your dog, look away and yawn with a big AHHH. Your dog probably thinks you are super cool.

Your dog is a master when it comes to observing all your subtle actions. All the little things we do without giving any conscious efforts, your dog will notice almost everything. Yes, your dog is a master when it comes to observing you. He is looking at every little detail. So when you yawn, your dog will quickly catch the action. Dogs understand what yawning means from a human counterpart. It is a way of telling your dog that you are super comfortable and relaxed. It is like saying, "everything is good." In your dog's eyes, you are a super cool owner.

#3 MEDITATE

Yes. Zen-like Transcendental meditation with deep breathing. Everyone has heard that meditation has all the benefits of its own. It will relax your body, mind, and soul. Breathe in deep and slow and then exhale. Concentrate on your breathing. Your dog will appreciate this straightforward mental exercise from you. But, Why does human meditation help the dog to calm down?

I know it sounds very zen-like when I say this. But your dog will detect the kind of energy you are projecting while you are meditating. It could be your brain chemical that your dog is sensing when you are in a calm-relaxed mindset. We may not exactly know what is going on in the process. From what I have experienced, dogs are very quick catching human feelings. And they are influenced by the emotions the human owner is going through. We can logically conclude that your happiness has a direct link to your dog's behavior. So don't forget to start the day with a quick 5-minute meditation.

#4 SNIFFING BEFORE YOUR DOG WHEN YOU ARE WALKING YOUR DOG.

Mimmick sniffing and smelling are something you want to do when you are walking your dog outside. Let's say there is a tree or a plant that your dog always sniffs. What you want to do is you go to the tree before your dog and do that sniffing. (Sniff sniff) While sniffing, you want to exaggerate action by making a sniffing sound. You will be able to gain not one star but two stars from your dog. It is a behavior that a mother dog does to her puppies when she is nurturing them. This is like a mother-to-puppy education. It is a way of saying, "I got this" or "Let me handle this." to your dog. Of course, I don't want to give my dog the message that I am the boss. I want to say I am your mom/dad. "I want to check this out for you." After all, we are family.

#5 STRETCH YOUR ARMS AND SHAKE YOUR BODY.

The body shake is like the shake you see when your dog wants to dry after giving a bath. Showing a body shake is so effective because a body shake is one of the calming signals of dogs to reduce stress and anxiety. It will calm them down and communicate their frustration. You know how a dog shakes its body to dry after a bath. In a similar way, you shake your body like that. You want to show your dog that "I know how to relieve my stress, and you should do the same thing."
